Each year I have in training German Shepherds from working lines that are trained and tested to
to ensure they are proven to be able to perform, tasks that are required of them, on a day to day basis, with the highest degree of proficiency.
These dogs are ready for the home, street or military deployment from the date of purchase. Charbain's German Shepherds are tested and bred for their working ability in situations that accurately duplicate the variety of possible real life encounters, obstacles and stressful factors that the dog and handler might face in the course of their life together. This is what sets Charbain Dogs apart from the rest.
That is why I choose superb stud dogs and breeding females that represent some of the finest Working Bloodlines from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and East German DDR working bloodlines. I breed to bring out that combination of natural courage and strength with natural German Shepherd working traits in each litter. My German Shepherds are excellent stereotypes, in both constitution (structure) and pigmentation.
All dogs in my breeding program have "dobry"(good) body conformation, strong bones, good pigmentation, strong health and excellent temperaments. They are also significant for their high ball drive, high working drives and early working maturity. The selection of my stud dogs and females is based on their solid nerves and ability plus to protect their territory. Charbain dogs are known for their stability, this makes them excellent guardians of the home.
It is my policy to breed for stability and workability both physically and mentally. I work what I breed and breed what I work. Training begins at 3 months of age, with the puppies observing and are then gradually introduced to the work, therefore creating a foundation of stability and confidence allowing the dogs natural working ability to develop. These dogs will not be distracted or provoked by loud noises, quick movements, other animals or large crowds.
Lessons are altered continuously, changing the routine, intensity and difficulty, to develop an even temperament with the ability to work effectively under pressure in any real life encounter the dog may have to face. Real life stress and trauma dictates real life training and genetic composition to handle and complete each given task. Dogs that are trained in protection work are trained to immediately release at the handlers command.
I train in all types of weather on all types of terrain, both natural and man-made. I use Praise as positive reinforcement NOT food reward, ball reward or shock collars.
I train for Personal/home protection, Military or Law Enforcement, If specialized training is required additional time will be needed to refine the dog. Since the ground work will already have been done the time needed for the specialized work is kept to a minimal.
Along with your puppy or dog you will receive information and instructions on raising your pup and how to keep a trained adult sharp.
Charbain's dogs will spend the day working, and come home to play with your children. The genetics are there.

Puppies(6-8 weeks)
This is for non-breeding pups. A non-breeding contract will be applied.

Started Level(3-4 months)
Pups have started training in:
socialization, house training, crate training and started training in the basic commands.
Beginner Level (5-8 months)
Young dogs will be well socialized, house trained, crate trained and will know their basic commands. They will have agility work started and multiple surface work. They will have worked around fire, smoke and water. Bite work and tracking will have been started.
Level #1 (9-14 months)
Dogs are started in their training to be placed as personal protection dogs. Dogs are trained to alert on the "watch" command and to deploy if an attack is made on you, or if they are verbally deployed. They have trained under extreme stress such as loud verbal belligerent hostile confrontations with individuals carrying bats and other weapons. This ensures the stability of the dogs. Dogs are worked on multiple slippery, raised, moving natural and man-made surfaces. Obedience is always incorporated into the stress of this training. These dogs are secure in this type of obedience and are stable in real life scenarios. More advanced scent work is started and the bite work increased. Stablilzation of the dog is the key factor at Charbains. These dogs are worked in all situations, which the dog and handler may encounter in real life. Dogs are taken to areas where large amounts of people are and are made to work. Once becoming familiarized to real life scenarios, they feel no threat or stress when placed from my facility. This level does not include tactical training.
Level #2 (15 months and older)
Dogs will have completed their training for home protection, and are well into their training for military or law enforcement use. Advanced work for military, security or law enforcement, is done in multiple targeting, deployment through fire, water and smoke to take out a target. Deployment out of vehicles is done as well as quartering, working more than one dog, crowd control and more.
Level #3
Dogs will have specialized training. This depends on the needs of the department or the individual. Listed below are examples of the specialized training.
Range Dogs.
Used to patrol the ranges and exercise yards - trained in crowd control. Highly trained to pick singular target out of crowd.
Tracking Dogs.
Trained on man scent, these dogs will man track on all surfaces and can also be trained in handler defence.
Perimeter Dogs.
Used to patrol perimeter areas and will attack, without handler presence, any human target.
All dogs are used to multiple surfaces, such as steel stairs, slippery floors, etc. They have been trained to work in smoke and mace. They are not affected by screaming crowds or hostile crowds. I guarantee my dogs 100% to perform as represented.
Specialized training takes approximately 10-12 weeks to complete, depending on the requirements.
